Amazing Lake Norman

Lake Norman is a 520-mile man-made reservoir lake that supplies electricity to the Piedmont region as part of the Cowans Ford Dam by Duke Energy created in 1959. It is fed by the Catawba River and nestled within Catawba, Iredell, Lincoln, and Mecklenburg counties in North Carolina. Is also known as North Carolina’s “Inland Sea” and is named after former Duke Power president Norman Atwater Cocke. It is the largest man-made body of fresh water in North Carolina and the things to do there are endless.

The parks at Lake Norman offers biking and hiking trails to enjoy the wild outdoors and the wildlife that calls Lake Norman home. You can go fishing in Lake Norman as they have two bank fishing areas and many places for public boating access along their shoreline. It is a popular game fishing area for catfish, largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, yellow perch, freshwater gar and breamlong.

You can enjoy water sports like swimming, jet skiing, water skiing, motor boating, wake boarding, paddle boarding, kayaks, canoes, and sailing. If you don’t have a boat or a jet ski, no worries. You can rent them there. Lake Norman has 520 miles of fun for everyone at any age. They also have amazing sunsets and offer chartered cruises to make the most of them and your stay there.

There are many places to stay at Lake Norman, whether you are there for business or pleasure. Cornelius, Davidson, and Huntersville offer affordable and comfortable accommodations. The campground is open twelve months a year, and you can enjoy hiking and biking on their trails along with swimming and the docks.

If you are a NASCAR or motorsport enthusiast, you are only minutes from attractions like Joe Gibbs Racing in Huntersville. You have easy access to the areas race shops, and you are only 20 miles from the Speedway!
